What is Forest Quest?
Forest Quest is a Student Project that aims to use QR codes and its own database to stimulate a way to combine digital and in person learning through letting families find core interest points on paths to learn about the environment
What do the Different Coloured QR codes mean?
Each QR code has associated colour surrounding it that will signify what kind of content you will find when you scan it.
Grey – History and Park Info
Brown – Tree Profiles
Pink – Plant Profiles
Light Blue – Fish Profiles
Yellow – Insect Profiles
Green – Amphibian and Reptile Profiles
Purple – Bird Profiles
Red – Invasive Species Profile
The QR codes will also include the name of the thing that you scan on it so that you can easily identify what you are scanning further.
Why only Toronto?
The thesis behind this project looked at the ways in which city kids seem to be getting less exercise these days and are spending more time online now than ever. This project is to address that issue and to get kids and families interested in nature and conservation. In the future, it may be expanded to other cities.
